European Screen is an independent editorial platform dedicated to European cinema — from the postwar classics of Bergman and Fellini to contemporary work from Romania, Portugal, and beyond.

We believe European film deserves a home of its own. Not a streaming algorithm, not a list of awards winners, but a curated space where a film from Denmark sits alongside one from Georgia, where a 1960s French New Wave title is as present as a series that aired last year.

What We Do

We maintain a growing database of films and series from across Europe, each selected and written up by our editors. Every title on the site is a recommendation. We don't rate — we curate. The Editor's Pick badge marks the titles we return to most, the ones we'd press on a stranger.

We also publish essays and lists — on genres, on national cinemas, on directors whose work deserves more attention. If you're new to European film, start with the Editor's Picks or one of our curated collections. If you're already a devotee, we hope to show you something you've missed.
