Wolfgang Fischer's Styx (2018) is a lean, almost dialogue-free moral thriller that turns one woman's sea voyage into a searing parable of Europe's response to the refugee crisis. Susanne Wolff carries the film almost alone as Rike, the doctor whose solitary Atlantic crossing is interrupted by a sinking boat of migrants she is told not to approach.
