Pubertat
An allegation of sexual assault posted on social media names three teenage boys from the same small Catalan town. Their families, the accuser's family and the community around them all have to decide what they believe, in public, immediately.
About
Leticia Dolera created, directed, co-wrote and stars in this six-part Max original, made in Catalan and Spanish and shown at Canneseries in 2025. Her previous series, Perfect Life, won Best Series at Canneseries in 2019; this is darker, tighter and considerably harder to watch.
The premise is an accusation of sexual assault posted online, naming three boys from the same town. Dolera plays Júlia, the mother of one of them, and the series moves between the accused families, the girl's household and the neighbours who have known everyone since primary school. Carla Quílez — the extraordinary young lead of Motherhood — is among the teenagers, and Betsy Túrnez and Xavi Sáez complete the adult cast.
What distinguishes it from the many recent dramas on this subject is its interest in the mothers: the series takes seriously how a woman who considers herself a feminist reasons her way toward defending her own son. It has drawn comparisons to Adolescence, and it is the more uncomfortable of the two because it refuses to settle the facts early.
