Amazon Prime Video's Red Queen (Spanish: Reina Roja) launched in March 2024 across seven episodes, becoming one of the streamer's highest-profile Spanish-language original commissions of that year. The series is adapted from Juan Gómez-Jurado's bestselling 2018 novel of the same name, the first in a trilogy that had sold over a million copies across Spain and Latin America by the time of the show's premiere.
Direction is split between Koldo Serra (episodes 1–2 and the finale) and Salvador Calvo (the central episodes). The cast is led by Vicky Luengo as Antonia Scott, with Hovik Keuchkerian — known internationally for his role in Money Heist — as her partner Jon Gutiérrez. Supporting performers include Nacho Fresneda, Celia Freijeiro and Pere Ponce. Cinematography is by Alex Catalán, the longtime Alberto Rodríguez collaborator (Marshland, The Plague).
The series was the most-watched Spanish-language Amazon Prime Video original on its launch in Spain and ranked in the streamer's global top ten in over twenty territories during its first two weeks. A second season covering the trilogy's second novel Loba Negra (Wolf Mother) entered production in late 2024.
